Mineral makeup for dry skin

You may have heard that mineral makeup is not suitable for dry skin - the powder formula emphasizes dry skin and dehydrates it. Fortunately, this is not entirely true. All you need is a proper technique and a change in the method of application to enjoy a healthy look of the skin, masking its imperfections and dry parts.

STEP 1 – take care of the skin and its proper level of hydration

Without proper care, loose mineral foundation formula can be a challenge for your dry skin. All you need is a daily change of skincare habits - cleanse your complexion with mild, creamy lotions, dissolve makeup with oil, gently cleanse with a natural pH cleansing bar. Also, don't forget to do regular peels - thanks to skincare, your skin will pay back with better elasticity, hydration and a healthy glow.

STEP 2 – don't forget to prepare your skin for makeup

Dry skin requires good preparation, but it doesn't have to be complicated. It is important that the epidermis is hydrated, well softened and, importantly, smooth. The rough texture of the skin in combination with a dry foundation does not promise to look fabulous. This is the main reason why the mineral foundation settles on dry skin. To avoid this, apply a proven moisturizer and add a drop of natural oil or silicone complex to it. The surface of the skin will smoothen and dry skin will be less visible. The foundation will also gain adhesion, as it will stick to the protective layer.

STEP 3 – change the technique of applying mineral makeup

The way you apply mineral makeup is of great importance. It is very important not to make strong, firm movements and also not to try wet application. We do not recommend the traditional way of wetting a brush covered with foundation. Although this is a great method to increase coverage, it won't work on dry skin because it provides too much pigment that could settle on dry skin. It is worth moisturizing the face, and with a dry brush and gentle moves apply mineral foundation evenly. Thanks to this small change, the foundation spreads evenly, has a more subtle coverage, and also corrects all skin imperfections.

The second method is applying a mineral foundation with a latex-free sponge. The sponge should be soaked in water, drain its excess and gently apply mineral foundation. The sponge gives the right amount of water, thanks to which the foundation acquires a light, watery consistency and does not settle on uneven surfaces or on the skin.

STEP 4 - if you still feel that the foundation is too dry and may flake off, remove it with a moisturizing mist or glycerin fixation fluid

If you still feel that your foundation is dry and can flake off, gently pull off a thin layer of the cosmetic with a moistened cotton pad, or use a glycerin moisturizing mist. Glycerin acts like a natural glue - it combines makeup with skin and fixes it. Sometimes it can cause the foundation to get cakey, but this is not expected if you apply the cosmetic wet and you have well hydrated skin. Glycerin used as a base could cause delamination of the foundation, but used as a fixative - it only binds minerals to the skin, providing a natural effect. After applying make-up, spray a delicate mist or use a moistened cotton pad and gently press it onto your skin.

Mineral makeup is suitable for all skin types. Remember that application techniques of mineral makeup and skincare play the key role. Dry skin can also enjoy mineral cosmetics. Try our proven tricks and you'll find out that it's simpler than you think.
