Finishing and setting mineral makeup

Finishing makeup is almost as important as skin preparation. Properly used products and simple, quick tricks will extend makeup durability and will allow you to enjoy natural look longer.

Squeeze out the excess of sebum and skincare products using a tissue

If you have an oily complexion, you should squeeze the excess of greasy substances into a tissue before applying foundation. Then the foundation will stick better to the skin and will spread evenly. The tissue is also useful in the last step of finishing make-up - when you spray the skin with a stream of moisturizing mist or water. Squeezing out the excess of moisture prevents the foundation from migrating and doesn't allow any streaks that water could cause.

Powder - traditional finish

Finishing mineral makeup with powder allows you to achieve both: matte and radiant finish. However, due to the dry formula of foundation and powder, you should be careful with the amount of product applied. It is worth paying attention to the degree of powder fineness - the smoother and more adhesive to the skin, the more natural the final effect will be, and the longer the matt or brightening effect will last. Choosing the right brush is also extremely important. If you only powder the middle zone, you should opt for a smaller egg-shaped brush with natural bristles. However, if you want to spread the powder all over your face, it is worth investing in a large, downy brush with synthetic bristles, which, compared to natural bristles, gently catches dry powders and distributes them evenly.

Depending on your preferences, you'll find powders with matte and dewy finish.

Matting powders are mostly based on natural powders - bamboo powder, rice powder, pearl powder. They provide a typical, dry, matte finish and are suitable for skin struggling with excessive greasiness, as in daily use they can slightly dry the skin (recommended product: Annabelle Minerals Pretty Matt powder). The effect of matte skin and optical smoothing is provided by silica, which perfectly reflects light, softens scratches and optically distracts attention from imperfections. Silica is mainly used by professionals in wedding make-up and photo sessions. In order to fix the make-up, matting powders should be used only on problem areas where the foundation has the least durability.

Radiant powders mainly contain mica, as well as ingredients that optically smooth facial features, giving a healthy glow, such as silica, silicone microspheres, powdered pearl particles. Radiant powders also extend the make-up durability and are suitable for everyday use, as they do not dry the skin to the same extent as matting powders. However, brightening powders can highlight imperfections (e.g. uneven skin texture, individual lumps). Therefore, if you have skin problems, it is worth using them in strategic places - to illuminate the eye area, cheekbones, nose, cupid's bow (recommended product: Annabelle Minerals Pretty Glow).

Innovative finish - damp sponge & loose powder

If applying powder with a brush causes problems – foundation cracks on the face and dry skins, it is worth applying the powder with a damp latex-free sponge. The sponge gives the right amount of powder, which is not very dry, but still has the function of extending makeup. Powder, thanks to this method is applied evenly, but does not settle on uneven skin.

Wet finish - moisturizing mist

If your complexion is extremly dry, you struggle with applying powders, that look very dry, or you just enjoy slightly dump makeup finish, it is worth to fix makeup with a moisturizing mist. Moisturizing mists, apart from water, contain moisturizing and caring ingredients as well as substances protecting against excessive water leakage. Applying moisturizing mist not only provides a natural effect, but also binds mineral pigments, prevents dry finish, guarantees lasting makeup and comfort - without dehydrating the epidermis.

Special occasions finish - with a special fixer in the atomizer

If you particularly care about permanent makeup, you should use a fixer in the atomizer. Fixers shrink pores, create a protective layer and prevent any foundation migration. In this way, they provide a long flawless makeup effect that won't require frequent adjustments. However, remember that fixers are intended for professional use and can not be used too often, because they are irritating the skin, can cause allergic reactions and severe dehydration.

To enjoy not only natural, but also permanent makeup, do not forget to fix the mineral foundation with appropriate cosmetics. Although mineral cosmetics are 2-in-1 products - they can act as both a foundation that balances skin tone and a light fixing powder, struggling with excessively oily or dry skin, it is worth applying our tricks to make makeup look even more natural and fresh.
